Annual pelvic exams have been routine in women’s health care, but new guidelines say there isn’t a reason for it.
Recommendations, put forth by the American College of Physicians (ACP), advise against pelvic exams for women who aren’t pregnant and do not show symptoms of potential problems.
The ACP says there isn’t evidence showing the screening exams benefit women.
